John Edwards 1557

In the name of God Amen Anno Domini 1557 the 6th day of April witness that I John Edwards of Potterspurie als Est purie in the county of Northampton husbandman being sick of body and of perfect remembrance do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul unto almighty God and to our Blessed Lady Saint Mary and to all the Holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspurie aforesaid I bequeath to the church of Potterspurie towards the repairs of the ornaments 5s I bequeath to the repairs of the bells 3s 4d I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 2d. Item I give and bequeath unto Jone Mobbes the daughter of Thomas Mobbes a bullock of a year old and a pair of sheets and also I bequeath unto An Mobbes an heifer with a white face a brass pot and a pan and 4 platters and 2 pair of sheets and a mattress and a coverlet a blanket and a frying pan and a bason Item I give and bequeath unto Margett Waren the daughter of Richard Waren a bullock of 2 years old and a brass pot a pan 2 platters a pair of sheets the best bason and a candlestick Item I give to Elizabeth Warren a bullock a posset a pan a pair of sheets a platter a cow with the repinge and a brass pot The residue of my goods and chattels not given I give them all unto Richard Waren and I do ordain and make him my full executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do make my supervisors William Smythe als. Kent Robert Packington to see that this my last Will be performed and fulfilled and they to have for their pains taking 12d a piece
