Edward Erbie 1560

In the name of God Amen in the year of our Lord God 1558 the 12th. day of October Witness that I Edward Erbie of Potterspury in the county of Northampton yeoman being sick in body and of perfect remembrance thanks be to Almighty God make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God in whom is all my trust and in our Blessed Lady Saint Marye and in all the Blessed Company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspurie aforesaid Item bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 4d Item bequeath to the poor man's box 8d Item bequeath towards the repairs of the church of Potterspurie 12d I bequeath to my sister Elizabethe a bullock of 2 years old I bequeath Elizabethe my servant a yearling calf Item bequeath to Anne Gon my cousin a cow calf of a year old Item I do make my son John Erbie my executor and I give to him all my lands and copy holds with half my goods movable and unmoveable and I give the other half of my goods to my 2 daughters Jone and Isabell equally to be divided betwixt them and I do make my brother William Smyth called Kente my overseer governor and ruler of my children till the day of their marriage and at the day of marriage of any of my children to have their part of their goods and if it happen any of my children depart to God's mercy that then the other daughter to have her sister's part and if both my daughters die then my son to have both parts of the goods if they die unmarried and if my son die then their my daughters or daughter shall have all my lands and goods aforesaid And I will it my brother will be my overseer and keeper of my children and shall let and sell my houses and receive the rents keeping the reparations towards the bringing up of my children during the time he has the rule of them this putting all my sole trust with my children and my goods as my very trust is that he will do These bearing witness Sir Thomas Folwell Edward Kent William Smyth and John bridges ploweright with other mooe
