Edward Erbye 1575
In the name of God Amen In the year of our Lord God 1558 the 12th. day of October witness that I Edward Erbie of Potterpurie in the county of Northampton yeoman being sick in body and of perfect remembrance thanks be given to Almighty God Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I bequeah my soul to Almighty God in whom is all my trust and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspurie aforesaid Item I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 4d. Item I bequeath to the poor men's box 8d. Item I bequeath towards the repairs of the church of Potterspurie 12d. Item I bequeath to my sister Elizabeth a bullock of the age of 2 years old Item I bequeath to Elizabeth my servant a yearling calf Item I bequeath to Anne Gone my cousin a cow calf of a year old Item I do make my son John Erbie my executor and I give him all my lands and copyhold with half my goods moveable and unmoveable and I give the other half of my goods to my 2 daughters Jone and Izabell equally to be equally divided betwixt them And I do make my brother William Smythe called Kent my overseer and governor and ruler of my children till the day of their marriage, and at the day of the marriage of any of my children to have their part of their goods, And if it happen any of my children do depart to God's mercy that then the other daughter to have her sister's part and if both my daughters die that then my son to have all their parts of their goods if they die unmarried and if my son die then my daughters of daughter shall have all my goods and lands aforesaid, And I will that my brother William my overseer and keeper of my children shall let and sell my houses and receive the rents keeping the reperacons towards the keeping of my children during the time that he has the rule of them this putting all my whole trust which my children and my goods as my very trust is that he will do These being witness Sir Thomas Folwell Edward Kent and William Smythe John Beyges Paull Plowright with other mo

Although the Testator died in Anno Domini 1558 as appeareth by the Testament notwithstanding it was not approved because the executor was then in his minority, yet the administration was committed to one William Smyth to thuse [the use] of the Children during their minority.
