William Marriott 1731
In the name of God Amen November the seventeenth Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and thirty I William Marriot of Potters Pury in the county of Northampton being weak and indisposed in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and being willing to settle my worldly affairs before I depart the same I make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following That is to say first and principally I commit and commend my soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it me hoping to receive full and free remission and forgiveness of all my sins And my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently interred therein at the discretion of my executors herein after mentioned and named and as for such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me I give and devise the same as follows First my will is that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged.
I give to my loving wife Mary Marriott all my wood and timber in the yard and barn and all my household goods to her own use and benefit forever except an oval table standing in the house the pot hangers in the house chimney and a great brass pot which I give her to use during her natural life And after her decease I give the said oval table pot hangers and brass pot to my kinsmen William and Benjamin Wise And further my will and mind is that all the rest of my goods stock and chattels shall be sold and made off as soon as conveniently it may or and be done after my decease And the money made thereof be put out at interest by my executors or the survivor of [them] and the interest paid to my said wife for her use and benefits during her life and from and after her decease I give and devise all the aforesaid money made of my stock and goods (as aforesaid) to my kinsmen William and Benjamin Wise share and share alike but if either of them shall happen to die before he shall receive his legacy then and in such case I give the share and portion of him so dying to the surviving younger brother Lastly I make and ordain my wife Mary Marriott and William Bird executrix and executor of this my last Will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written
