In the name of God Amen I Paul Ratcliffe the elder of Potterspury [tear in the document] in the county of Northampton cooper being very … … in God of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be therefore given to God I do make and ordain this my present last Will and Testament [in] manner and form following (that is to say) first and principally I commend my soul [in]to the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping through the merits and passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named, And, as touching the disposition of such temporal estate as it has pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me in this transitory world I give bequeath devise and bestow thereof as follows, first I will that … be paid and discharged as to my debts and funeral charges by my executors hereinafter named Item I give and devise to my son Thomas Ratcliffe of Potterspury aforesaid cooper and to his heirs and assigns forever all those three bays of building tenement and dwelling house with the orchard garden yard backside and appurtenances thereunto belonging and adjoining now all in my own occupation and possession … now stabled out, mounded and bounded from the other bay of building Item I give and devise unto Paul Ratcliffe my grandson, (and son of William Ratcliffe late of Potterspury aforesaid labourer deceased) and to his heirs and assigns forever all that other bay of building tenement or dwelling house with the fore yard and appurtenances thereunto belonging late in the occupation of one John [W]eale Item I give and devise unto my grandson William Stephens and to his heirs and assigns forever all that tenement four bays of building or dwelling house with the orchard garden backside and appurtenances thereunto belonging and adjoining as it is now mounded bounded and stabled out, and now in the occupation of Henry Rockingham als. Packington upon condition that he the said William Stephens his heirs and assigns do out thereof well and truly pay or .. use to be paid [unto] Paul Debell of London my grandson the sum of five pounds of lawfull money of England within one year after my decease which said [sum] of five pounds I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said Paul Debell accordingly Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson William Stephens … and also forever all those two chests now standing in my lodging [house] with the table now standing in the room at my stair foot, and a jo[ined] bedstead now standing and being in the cock loft at Henry Packington's als Rockingham all the rest and residue of my household goods utensils and implements of … hold stuff goods lumber wood chattels and personal estate whatsoever wheresoever I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Ratcliffe, and my said grandson William Stephens and to their executors administrators and assigns forever to be equally divided between them share and share alike, and I do hereby make constitute ordain appoint the aforesaid Thomas Ratcliffe and William Stephens joint and full executors of this my present last Will and Testament: And I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made In witness whereof I the said Paul Ratcliffe the testator to this my present last Will and Testament being contained in one sheet of paper have set my hand and seal the fourth day of September in the fifth year of our soverign Lady Anne by the Grace of God of Great Britain … defender of the Faith Anno Dom. 1707
