William Scrivener 1708
In the name of God Amen I William Scrivener being something weak and crazy in body but of sound and perfect mind memory and judge [missing] The frailty and uncertainty of this human life do make ordain this my last will and [Testament] And principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping th.. [missing] Have free and full pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life [missing] at the discretion of my executor hereafter named, And as for touching all such tem[poral] [missing] I give and dispose thereof as follows, first I will that all my debts and funeral charges [paid] my mother Susanna Kingston shall be paid yearly and every year during the term of her natural life [missing] quarterly by even and equal portions by my executor hereinafter named out of the rents and profits [missing] aforesaid pursuant to an agreement heretofore by me made with my said mother upon her resigning her rig… of the same Item I give and bequeath to my four brothers in law (that is to say) David Wright George [Stevens] sums of five pounds a piece to be paid to each and every of them by my executors hereafter na[med] And in case of the death of all or any of my said brothers then their several five pounds so dead to go [missing] the same be paid [missing] due to the parent or parents so dead to go and be paid to the [missing] And I bequeath to [missing] the son of David Wright William the son of George Stevens [missing] to be paid [missing] by my executor as [missing] before he shall attain the age of one and twenty years then [missing] sister of him or the [missing] I give and bequeath to the two daughters of my brother Thomas Scriv[ener] attain the age of one and twenty years either of them accordingly but if either of them die before that age th[en] [missing] survivor of them And if both happen to die before they attain the said respective ages of one and twenty Item I give and bequeath to my godson William the son of my cousin Richard Scrivener the sum of five [missing] twenty years And if he happens to die before that time then I give the aforesaid sum of five pounds to [missing] John's death then to his brother Thomas Scrivener when he shall attain the age of one and twenty years [missing] Then the said sum to fall and be due to my executor And all the rest of my real estate of [missing] debts are justly paid And also all the rest and residue of my personal estate goods and chattels whatso[ever] thereby give and bequeath to my loving kinsman William Kingston (son of my brother Thomas King[ston] And sole executor of this my last Will and Testament And I also hereby nominate appoint and [missing] (that is to say) my cousin Richard Scrivener and my brother George Stevens both of Potterspury [missing] Testament hereby desiring and earnestly requiring them as they will answer it at the great d[ay] And truly executed according to the true intent and meaning thereof for whose care and pains to [missing] each of them twenty shillings a piece to be paid unto them by my aforenamed executor within [missing] I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all and all manner of former Wills and Testaments by me [the] said William Scrivener to this my last Will and Testament being contained in one large [missing] The twelfth day of February in the fifth year of the reign of our most gracious sov[erign] [missing] England Scotland France and Ireland Queen defender of the faith 1707
