In God's name Amen the fourteenth day of August in Ann Dom 1601 I Richard Scryvener of Potterspurye in the county of Northampton yeoman being sick in body but yet of good and perfect memory thanks be to God Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following first I give and yield up my soul into the hands of almighty God my creator in full assurance to have it placed in his kingdom amongst his blessed Saints and Holy angels only by the merits and blood shedding by my Lord and only Saviour Christ Jesus And my body to be buried in the church of Potterspurie, and touching my worldly goods which the Lord fro a time lent me I give and bequeath them as follows First I give and bequeath to my eldest son Richard Scryvener all my messuage or tenement in Potterspurie wherein I now dwell all lands pastures closes commons commodities profits and hereditaments whatsoever with the appurtenances to the same belonging or [in any way]ⁱ appertaining excepting one tenement in Blackwell and sold to Thomas Addington and [missing] house newly erected and a yard alreadye set forth and limitt [missing] tenure of Michael Tassell to hold to my said son Richard his [missing] for ever Provided always that my if my goods will not amo[unt missing] of my debts and legacies herein after mention that [missing] my overseers in truste herein after named shall make [missing] wateringe Close and of a cottage in the tenure of R[missing] one other cottage in the tenure of Henry Spencer [missing] my said debts and legacies And further provided also that my said son Richard shall pay to his three brethren Thomas Scrivener and Robert Scrivener Henry Scrivener ten pounds a piece of their legacies herein after specified Item I give to my son William Scryvener my house and yard which Michael Tassell occupies and my said close called Milkyns Stockings Item I give to Thomas Scryvener my son fifteen pounds to be paid at one and twenty years of his age Item I give to my son Robert Scryvener fifteen pounds to be paid at one and twenty years of age Item I give to my son Thomas Scryvener my cottage in the tenure of Humfreye Hayes and ten pounds to be paid at one and twenty years of his age Item I give to Marie Scryvener my daughter one brown heifer and thirty pounds to be paid at one and twenty years of her age or at her day of marriage which soever first comes Item I give to my daughter Margarett Scryvener twenty pounds to be paid in like manner at one and twenty years of her age or at the day of her marriage Item I give to the poor of the parish of Potterspurie 20s. Item I give to the repairs of my parish church 5s. Item to the mother church of Peterborough 4d. Item my will is that my Copyhold in Yardleye be conveyed by my executrix to John Scryvener my son all the residue of my goods and chattels moveable and unmoveable my debts and legacies being paid and my funeral discharged I give and bequeath to Jane Scryvener my wife whom I make sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I do make ordain and constitute Henry Pedder gent John Barrowe gent and Thomas Addington yeoman and Thomas Scryvener my brother my overseers in trust giving and granting to them full authority by this my last Will to make sale of my Bryard watering close and of my cottage in the tenure of Richard Gunne and of my cottage in the tenure of Henry Spencer if my goods not amount to the payment of these my debts and legacies herein after specified In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written Sealed and delivered in the presence of overseers viz.
