Will of Mary Smith Of Potterspury, 1731
In the name of God Amen, The nineteenth Daud of August in the Year of our Lord 1730, I Mary Smith of Potterspury in the County of Northampton, being sick of Body but of perfect Mind & Memory Do make constitute & ordain this my Last Will & Testament my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried by my Ececutors in a Christian like & decent manner; And as touching my Worldly Estate I give & dsipose of the same in the manner & form following
Imprimis I give & bequeath to my Brother Thomas Smith & Cousin Thomas Scrivener [fifteen pounds after]d whom I make and constitute & ordaine Sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament fifteen pounds a piece of the thirty pounds now in my Brother Thomas Smith's hands, provided I have not occasion for the s. thirty pounds or any part thereof to maintain my self, which if I have; my Will & meaning is to have it, beit the sd thirty pounds or part thereof in my Brother Thomas Smith's [hands]i equally divided between my sd Brother Thomas Smith & Cousin Thomas Scrivener. Item I give & bequeath to my Cousins Thomas Smith, John Smith, Martha Bland, Anne Webb & Jane Scrivener [& Mary Scrivener]i five pounds a piece to be paid by my Executors within twelve months of my Decease. [Item I give to my Cousin Mary Smith a Dimattay Petticoat]i. Item I give to my Cousin George Smith, Ann Hoare & Mary Harris five pounds a piece to be paid by my Executors within one year of my Decease. Item I give to my Cousin Martha Brown five ponds a Trunk & a Bible. Item I give to my Cousin Thomas Brown five pounds to be paid by my Executors within one Year of my Decease. Item I give and bequeath to my Cousins Elizabeth & Mary Cook fifty shillings a piece to be paid by my Executors within one Year of my Decease. I also give to my Cousin Mary Cooke a Holland Sheet with a seam down the Middle which was my Mothers. Item I give to my Brother Edward Brown & Brother George Smiths widow Anne Smith twenty shillings a piece to be paid by my Executors within one Year of my Decease. Item I give & bequeath to my Nurs Martha Fisher three ponds a Riding hood, my Working Suit of Cloaths & a Smock. Item I give to my Cousin Jane Scrivener two white Chairs & a Varnished Table which I bought my self. Item I give and bequeath to my sister Margaret Brown five & twenty pounds & all my part of Household Goods Wearing apparel Linen etc. Item I will that all my relations & them that carry my Body to the Grave have each a pair of Gloves & that my Executors Set up a decent Grave Stone.
