Nicholas Stanley 1636
In the name of God Amen the fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and thirty and six I Nicholas Stanley of Potterspurie in the county of Northampton chapman being sick in body but of good and perfect memory (praised be God ) do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say first and principally I do give and bequeath my self wholly both sole and body unto Almighty God my creator and redeemer and sanctifier steadfastly believing the pardon and forgiveness of all my sins by the merits death and passion of Jesus Christ my all sufficient saviour and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspurye aforesaid Item I do give and bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough four pence Item I give and bequeath to the poorest poor people of Potterspurie twenty shillings to be delivered to them at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto John Nicholls of Old Stratford the sum of ten shillings of lawful money of England to buy him a gold ring in token of my love to him All the rest of my goods cattles and chattels money and debts to me due and belonging I wholly do give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my wife And I do ordain and make my said loving wife the sole and only executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I do hereby utterly revoke and deny all other Wills and Testaments heretofore in anywise by me made willed or bequested. Item I do desire my said loving friends John Nicholls of Old Stratford yeoman to be the overseer of this my last Will and Testament and in token that this is my last Will and Testament I the said Nicholas Stanley have caused the same to be read and do pronounce that this is my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Nicholas Stanley have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written and in the presence of these whose names are here under written Vizt.
