Richard Yerle 1544

In the name of God amen the year of our Lord God 1544 the 30 day of March I Rycarde Yerle and in the 35th. year of the reign of our most soverign Lord Henry the VIII by the grace of God King of England France and Ireland defender of the faith and the church of England and also of Ireland in earth supreme God I Rychard Yerle of the parish of Saint Nicholas of Est purie otherwise called Potters peri being sick in body but whole of mind make my last Will and Testament after this form following first I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God to our Lady Saint Mary and to all the Holy company of heaven my body and when it shall please God my body and life shall depart this world then my body to be buried in the churchyard of Saint Nicholas Item I give to the mother church of Peterborough 2d Item I give to every alter in the church 4d a piece Item to the bells 8d Item to the torches 4d to the rood light 4d Item I will have two masses of five wounds within a month for my soul and all Christian souls Item I give to Nicholas my son a quarter of barley Item I give to John my son a quarter of barley Item I give to Agnes my daughter a coffer the Price 3s and a brass pot at the will of her mother Item I give to Thomas my son 12 strike of barley the residue of my goods not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath to Agnes my wife whom I make my executrix and Thomas my son and Rychard my son to be executors with Agnes my wife their mother and Agnes my wife to have half my goods to her part and Thomas and Rychard Yerle to have the other half my goods and debts and my funerals performed these being witness John Goodman and Richard Budd John Browne and William Smyth and others
