In the name of God Amen the 21 day of September in the year of our Lord 1723 according to the computation of the Church of Great Britain I John Read of Morend belonging to Yardley Gobion in the parish of Potterspury in the county of Northampton late keeper at Pury Lodge being in perfect memory and remembrance praised be God for it do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker hoping that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only saviour and redeemer to receive for pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and as for my body to be buried in Christian burial at the discretion of my executor hereafter nominated Item I give and bequeath to my sister Sisily [White] five pounds in money and the [t]otty cow I give and bequeath John Read my eldest brother son one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Thomas Read my eldest brother son the sum of one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Mary Joanes my eldest bother daughter the sum of one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Ann Ratlife my bother Thomas Reade daughter the sum of one pound ten shillings item I give and bequeath to Jane Clave my bother Thomas Read daughter the sum one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Jane Clare my brother Thomas Read daughter the sum one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath Mary Read my youngest brother James his daughter the sum of one pound ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to Pat Catram five shillings Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Sanders my spinning wheel and five shillings of money Item all the rest of my goods and chattels and money I give and bequeath to John Read my youngest brother James his son and do make and constitute him full executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking other Wills and Testaments In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal and year first above written
