Alehouse Keepers Grafton Regis 1600 - 1950
Aletaster
A manorial official who tested the quality and measurement of ale and beer sold within the manor. He was the forerunner of the Inspector of Weights & Measures. Quite often his responabilities included the testing of the quality or weight of bread.
