In the name of God Amen. I Richard Chapman of Grafton Regis in the county of Northampton. Yeoman being weak in body put of perfect mind and remembrance thanks be given unto Almighty God for [the same] Doe to make and ordayne this my last will and testament in manner and form following, first I bequeath my Soule to Almighty God my maker and Creator. Hoping to be [saved] by the merits death and passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer and my body to be buryed in Christian Manner
Item I give unto my son William Chapman twenty shillings
Item I give unto my son John Chapman twenty shillings
Item I give unto my son Charles Chapman twenty shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth twenty shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Mary twenty shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Margaret twenty shillings
Item I give unto all my Grand children twenty shillings [a piece]
Item I give unto both God children one shilling a piece
Item my will [is that] my Farme in Grafton (Viz) the third part thereof and my cottage house where I now dwell with all and every of there Appurtenances situate in the towne and fields of Grafton aforesaid shall not be sold, but remaine to my wife my Executrix and to those of my children that shall behave themselves best deserving but if my said wife shall marry agayne my will is that she shall have nothing to doe with the said Farme and Cottage.
Item I make my said wife Elizabeth my Executrix of this my last will and testament and to pay all the Legacies and bequests within one year after my Death and to pay my debts and Funerall expenses and have all my household goods & Chattle to her [use]. And I also doe make theyreof my loving neighbours, Mr. William Foster and John Caves of Grafton Regis aforesaid overseers [of this] my last will and testament and I [also] revoke all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have set to my hand and seal the day and year above written
