William Erby 1742
In the Name of God Amen. I William Erby of Grafton Park In the County of Northampton bring through the Abundant Mercy and Goodness of God, though weak in Body, yet sound and perfect Understanding and Memory (praised be to God) do make this my Last Will and Testament, and desire it may be received by all as such, Imprimis I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God my maker, beseeching his most gracious Acceptance of it, through the All sufficient Merits and Mediation of my most Compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an Atonement for my sins, and is able to save to the uttermost, all the Come unto God by him, seeing he Ever liveth to make Intercession for them, and who I trust, will not reject me, a retuning penitent Sinner when I come to him for Mercy, in this hope and Confidence I render up my Soul with Comfort, humbly beseeching the most blessed and glorious Trinity, One God most Holy, most Merciful and Gracious, to prepare me for the Time of my Dissolution, and then to take me to himself into that Peace, and Rest, and Incomparable Felicity, which he has prepared for all that love, and fear his holy Name, Amen. Next I give my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken, in full Assurance of it's Resurrection from thence at the last Day: As for my Burial I desire it may be Decent, without pomp, at the Discretion of my Dear Children, and my Executor hereafter, named. As to my Worldly Estate I give and bequeath it, in Manner following that is to say Imprimis I give and devise unto my Daughter Francese wife of Richard Harris the Sum of forty pounds of good and Lawful money of Great Britain Item, I give to my Daughter Susannah wife of William Allbright all those of my two Tenements Lying and being Situate in Dunshanger Mr. Miles's Farm one on Side which I value at fifteen Guineas together with Twentyfour pounds and five shillings of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain. Item I give and Devise unto my Daughter Mary wife of William Higens all that of my other Tenement Lying and being Situate in Dunsanger aforesaid that is to say the House where the Blacksmiths Shop was which I value at twenty one pounds together with Nineteen pounds of good and Lawful money of Great Britain. Item I give and devise unto my son Joseph the Sum of Forty pounds of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain. Item I give and Devise unto my son John's Children the Sum of Forty pounds of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain which sum I give to be Equally Devided Among them as soon as they shall attain to the Age of Twenty one years of Age together with such Lawful Interest as shall be then Due. Item I give and Devise unto my son Bud one half Acre of arable Land Lying and being Situtate in Dunsanger field one End butting on grass Stocking and the other End butting on Little London which I value at Six pounds together with Thirtyfour pounds of good and Lawful money of Great Britain and in Case my money which is now out upon Interest when it is got in and fairly Collected and all my other Worldly Effects shall amount to Upwards of Twohundred and Forty pounds which I have given away as Legacies to my Dear Children above named that then and in such Case the surpusage or remainder shall be Equally Devided among those my Children and Legatees and in Case it shall so happen that my Executors shall be obliged to Commence and suit or Suits of Law for the Recovery of any of my moneys that are out on Interest that then and in such Case those of my Children and Legatees shall bear Equall part share and share alike towards Defraying such Charge and in Case any of the aforesaid money Cannot be recovered that then they shall bear an Equally share of the Loss and all such Household Goods as were in the possession of my Son Bud I give and devise them to him and his heirs for Ever and as to those Household Goods which I had at Grafton Parke I give and Devise them to my three Daughters to be Equally Devided among them share and share alike and I do hereby Constitute Richard Marriott of Wicken Hurst and my Eldest son Bud to be my Executors and Trustees for my other Children and Grandchildren in Witness whereof I do hereunto Set my hand and Seal Dated the nineteenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord 1742
