Nicholas Erle 1558
In gods name amen. In the year 1556 I Nicholas Erle of Grafton in the countie of Northampton Husbandman Do make my last will & testament in forme folowinge First I bequeath my sole to almighty god and my body to be buried in the church yard of Grafton. I give to the bells 12d to the rode lofte 12d Item to the [hye aulter] 6d Item to my eldest son Richard a black heifer of 2 years old Item I gyve to my youngest sonne John a bullock of 2 years old. I gyve to Thomas a redde bullock of 2 years old And to [Anne] Mary and Jone to each of them a calffe The rest of all my goods I gyve to my wife to the behoof of my poore children aforesaid I will that all my brothers and sisters shall have a busshell of wheat a piece I will that my wife Ales and my oldest son Then shall be my full executors and the .goodman Kyrbie the older to be my overseer and he have for his payment the shepe that I have Witness Thomas Erle & Richard Erle with [others more] Proved 12 March 1558/9
