The testament of John Fermor yeoman

In gods name amen . [Anno domini] 1555 [and the 2nd day] of January
That I John Fermor yeoman of the [towne] of grafton being in perfect memorie [lawded] be to allmighty god doe odayne & make my last will & testament in manner & forme followynge Fyrst I bequeath my soule unto the hands of allmyghty god & to all the holly companye of hevyn and my bodye to be buryd in the church yarde of grafton I gyve to the mother church of the dyoces 2d Item I bequeath to the rode light of grafton churche 12d Item to the bells of the same church 12d Item to Roland pyckerynge my cosyn my best horse Item to[rondell] Barnes a browne steere bullocke Item to Nycholas Franglyn my cosyn my best cowe cotte (coat) a doublet and an acre of barley halffe an acre of peys and to 4 of his children a shyppe apece Item I gyve to John Franklyn a [hecford (heifer)] bullocke and a sheep Item to Rychard Hynde 6s 8d Item to Elizabeth allmen a cowe Item I gyve to John Grace my servant a cowe & a mayre a payre of shyttes the tyre of an olde cart and 2 pieces of pewter and a acre of barley and other of peyse a rode of whet Item I gyve to Jane Southern a peyre of shyttes 2 peces of pewter a [latten] bason A salt seller of pewter. Item I gyve to Jane bell a payre of shytes a browne hecforde a feather bed 2 peces of pewter Item to William browne a shypp Item I gyve to Maryanne foster a black hecforde bullocke Item I gyve to Edward Kyrby my godchild a shypp my great spyt Item I gyve to all neybors household[er]s halfe a busshell of malt and to Mr. Parson a whole bushell of malt . Ityem I gyve to John Kyrby the son of old John Kyrby my [howyll] and a [fane] that hangyth Bacon.
