Francis Foster 1640

In the name of the Father and of the sonne of the Holy Ghost Amen. I Francis Foster of Grafton Regis in the County of Northampton being very sicke and weake in Body but of perfect memorye I thank my Gracious God. Doe in the feare of the Holy and blessed Trinity make and Ordaine this my Last will and Testament. First I doe bequeath my Sinfull Soule unto the most Mercifull hands of my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ by whose onely merritts and Mediation I hope to Obtain Life Eternal in the Kingdome of Heaven: And my Body to be Interred in Grafton Churchyard. And Ten shillings to the Poore of that Parishe. And Ten shillings to Mr. Stilton of Potterspury for a sermon att my Funerall. Item I give unto my deare and loveing Mother Anne Foster and to my loveing Sister Margrett Foster my wine Lycence belonging to Grafton Regis. Likewise I doe give unto my loveing Sister Margrett Foster Twenty Pounds to be payd by my Executor att the Daye of her Marriage or at the yeares of One & twenty . Item I doe give unto my lovinge Brother William Foster Ten Pounds when he returns from beyond the sea but in case he should not return; Then it is my will that the Tenn Pounds be Equally divided betwixt my Brother Edward Foster and my Sister Margret Foster. Item for the Naturall affection that I beare unto my Brother Edward Foster I do give unto him all my Tooles and Timber of what Nature soever; sawed or unsawed. Excepting that stuffe or wainscot which is already bespoake. Item I doe give unto Christopher Rawlin my Father's Servant Ten shillings my Coate and Suite which I have given Order unto my Father bestowe on him, likewise I give unto William Brafield Five shillings. To Joane Clarke Two shillings sixe pence. And to Elizabeth Chambers Two shillings sixe pence. And for the Bounden Duty that I have and doe ever Owe unto my Deare & loveing Father Edward Foster I doe ordaine and appoint him to be my full and sole Executor. And do bequeath unto him all the rest of my Estate whatsoever making no doubt but that he will see this my Last will and Testament performed which was made by mee this Tenth of January 1640 In the presence of :
