William Goodman 1590

In the name of god Amen. I William Goodman of Grafton Regis in the County of Northampton being sicke of body but of perfect memory do make this my last will & testament this last of August 1590 First I bequeath my soule to almighty god & my bodie to be buried in the churchyard of Grafton aforesaid . [Secondlie] I bequeath to my parish church [iijs iiijd] Item I give to the poore there everyone one pecke of corne Item I give to William my sonne at the age of 21 years halfe my farme & sufficient [seede] to [sowe] the land halfe the [eames carts ploughes & furnitures] or five pounds of lawfull English money Whether he better liketh & to be brought upp until the age of 21 years aforesaid I[tem] I bequeath to John my sonne £6 13s 4d to be paid unto hym at the age of 21 years and of that his brother William depart the world before John [without yssue] then my sonne John to have William's part [ & title ] of the farme at the age of 21 years aforesaid Item I give to Margarett my daughter £5 to be paid unto her at the day of her marriage. Item I bequeath to Francis my daughter five pounds to be paid unto her at the day of her marriage Item I give to my daughter Mary five pounds to be paid unto her at the day of her marriage. And yf John Margarett Francis Mary or any of them depart this world before their legacies be dewe then their part or any one of their parts to remaine to the [survivors] by equall portions All my foresaid children to be brought upp of my farme till the age of 21 years yf they be not married or otherwise [conveniently provided] for All other things unbequeathed I give Katherine my wiffe (my) debts & funeral discharged whom I make my wholle executrix Item I make overseers of this my will William [Sew]ell & Nicholas Wynmill to whom I give 12d a peece.
