In the Name of God Amen I Edward Hobbs of Grafton Regis in the county of Northampton Labourer this 23 of January in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hunderd fifty and eight make and ordayne this my last will and testament in manner and forme following first I bequeath my soule to Almighty who gave [it me] hoping and trusting to bee saved the Merritts Death and [Passion] of my only and alone Saviour Jesus Christ who dyed for mee and shed his most [precious] bloud for my Redemption and my body to bee buryed in Christian manner Item I give to my wife Anne Hobbs one shilling Item I give to my sonne Edward one shilling Item I give to my sonne Richard one shilling Item I give to my daughter Jane one shilling Item I give to my daughter Margaret one shilling Item I give to my daughter Alice Hobbs tenne shillings in mony and all my Apparell Item I give to my sonne William forty shillings Item I give unto my daughter Hester all my Goods and household stuff and bedding and all other my goods whatsoever that are myne , ….. house [because] shee hath [spent] her [tyme] and bee[ne dilligent as a dutiful daughter ] about mee , and also in [looking care]fully to mee and her weake brother William my sonne. Item I give unto my said daughter Hester tenne pounds in William caves his hand of Roade, my Landlord , and to pay out of the said tenne pounds when she shall re[ceive] it of him, all the said money given and bequeathed in this aforesayd Will and testament Item I make my sayd daughter Hester my executour of this my last will and testament, and [to sees] my body Christian like buryed when soever it shall please God to call mee out this worlde In witness whereof I the sayd Edward Hobbs have sett my hand and sealle this day and year as above written
