The Will of John Wickens late of Grafton Park gentleman proved 12 of June 1746

This is the Last Will and Testament of John Wickens of Grafton Park In the County of Northampton. Gentleman. I Will that All Just debts I shall owe at the time of my Decease be paid and satisfied. I give and Devise to my Nephew Edward Caporne Son of John Caporne deceased. All that Parcelle of Meadow Ground lying and being in Paulerspury Meadow containing by estimation about Two Acres and a rood there abouts be the same more or less which I bought off John [Goslelow], and also all that other One acre of meadow ground lying in Paulers Pury Upper Meadow and also all that Close piece or parcel of grass ground lying in the Common and open fields of Paulers Pury aforesaid in a place called Berril containing by estimation about one Acre and also all that One Acre of arable land in Berril aforesaid together with all other my lands Tenements and Hereditaments I give and Devise to my said Nephew Edward Caporne to hold to him the said Edward Caporne his heirs and assignees for ever Charged and Chargable as I hereafter mentioned, I give to my Nephew Robert Wickens son of my brother Robert Wickens The sum of Ten pounds, to my Niece Jane Stockley Ten pounds and to Mary Buncher widow of Robert Buncher Ten pounds, to be paid in twelve months after my decease and I do hereby charge all and singular the aforesaid premises by me Devised to the said Edward Caporne with the payment of the Three Severall Sums of Ten pounds as aforesaid I give and bequeath all my said household goods and wearing apparel to Rebecca the wife of Thomas Newman of Paulerspury In Trust nevertheless that the said Rebecca Newman do give and dispose of the same unto amongst her children by her late husband John Caporne deceased. In such share and portion as she shall think proper. All the rest of the residue and remainder of my personal estate of that nature or kind soever or wheresoever I give and bequeath to the said Edward Caporne the Executor and Administrator (illeg) & constitute executor of this my will hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made. In Witness tohereof I have herewith Set my hand and seal this twenty eight day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and forty four.
Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator and for his last Will and Testament In the presence of each other have Subscribed our names in Witness Thereto in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other.
