A Fox to be Proud Of
The Grafton Fox
Is a crafty old devil
Who circles in woods
Goes fast on the level
He’s sturdy but handsome
Provides very good sport
Is incredibly cunning
And rarely gets caught
He resides in small coverts
Where he sets up his den
He enjoys a good hunt
And the occasional hen
He sleeps through the day
But lives through the night
Loves mousing at dusk
And goes home when its light
On days when he’s hunted
His form is at best
He runs ‘til he’s lost us
Then stops for a rest
He outwits the hounds
By running through sheep
Or very long grass
Or water that’s deep
His strength is undying
He lives ‘til he’s old
Chasing rabbits and chickens
Still handsome and bold
We dream of his outline
As we unload our box
For nothing surpasses
A good Grafton Fox!!
