Charles II

Charles II

After Charles II's Restoration in 1660, royal officials faced the complicated task of resolving conflicting claims to the various parts of the honor of Grafton which had been alienated by Charles I. At Grafton Regis itself the estate was split into two parts: the Crown retained the land around the village, while Grafton Park to the west remained with the heirs of Sir George Stode and Arthur Duck.

Charles II was the father of Henry FitzRoy who became the First Duke of Grafton.
