The Victorian Village Trail
This is Grafton Regis as it was in the 1870s and 1880s.

During that time the vicar was the Rev Barwick Sams whose daughter Isabella (also known as Ella) was an amateur artist.

Her watercolours of the village, the people and the countryside around Grafton have left us with a unique image of a rural way of life which has now passed into history.

This section has two parts : the Western Trail showing views along the main Northampton - Stony Stratford road, and the Eastern Trail showing the scenes around the village near the Church, the Manor and the Vicarage (the easternmost building on the map shown here)

Click on the left or right hand side of the Map to start the trails - go back over a hundred years and see Grafton Regis and its environs through the eyes of Ella Sams.
