My great grandfather, George Bowell ( 1837 - 1894 ), only lived in Haversham for no more than about five years. He and his wife were both born in Harrow, Middx but married in 1865 at Holborn, London where he was a coachman. He moved to Haversham, as a domestic servant and coachman, probably to the Manor House, before my Grandmother was born in 1867 followed by a sister in 1868 and a brother in 1871. At some point after this they moved back to Harrow where my grandmother's brother died in 1875. Once again my great grandfather was a coachman at one of the larger houses on Harrow on the Hill.
