John Newman 1648
November the Eighteenth day Ano Dmi 1648 In the name of god Amen I John Newman of Haversham in the county of Bucks Taylor beinge weak and payned in bodie but of perfect minde and memory Doe make this my Last wyll and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Allmighty God my mercifull Creator and redeemer hopinge to be saved by the merits of Jesus Christ My Bodie to bee decently buryed in the earth from whence it was taken And for that portion of worldly goodes with which God hath blessed mee Imprimis I give to my Two grandchildren John Cotes and Sarah Cotes to each of them xijd Item I give to William Cotes my grandchilde xxs of good money to bee paid to his father John Cotes for the use and behoof of ye said William within one yeare after my death. Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Newman my daughter Tenne poundes of Lawfull money vidzt That tenne pounds for which John Hill of Emerton [Emberton] in the county of Bucks together with Thomas Hill stands bound to mee by speciall bond or obligation bearinge date the ffirst day of May 1648. And my will is that the said bond shall from ye time of my death bee to the use and benefit of my said daughter Anne Newman only. Item I give to my eldest daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Cotes and to my daughter Anne Newman ffive poundes betweene them to each of the. Ls [50s] vidzt That ffive pound with Robert Rigby of Newport Pagnell oweth mee by speciall bond or obligation wherein the said Robert Rigby and John Richardson are bound unto mee bearinge date the ffirst day of May 1639. And my will is that the said summe of ffive pounds shall be paid to my two daughters as aforesaid as soone as it can bee recovered of the said Robert Rigby his Executors or assignes Item I give to my beloved wife Sara Newman ffive pounds of it xl which Richard Saunders of Newport Pagnell oweth mee to bee att her owne disposinge Item all the rest of my goodes cattell and Chattles not before bequeathed my debts and Legacies discharged, I give and bequeath unto Sara Newman my wife and Anne Newman my daughter to bee used and enioyed by my said wife and to her benefit duringe her naturall Life and after her death to be left to my said daughter Anne her executors or assignes, except the presse to hange clothes in which I formerly promised and gave to my aforesaid daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Cotes the which said presse or xxvjs viijd for it I will and appoint to bee delivered to my said daughter Elizabeth And I make Sarah my said wife sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament In witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above said signed Johis Newman Sealed and published in the presence of Michael Bostocke Sam Carter

Memorandum that the same 18th day of November before the sealinge and publishinge of this Testament the Testator did give unto his daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Coates one stocke of Bees in the presence of me Michael Bostocke:
