Old Stratford - Canal Branches Act 1793

NOTICE is hereby Given, the Application is making to Parliament for an Act for making and maintaining a NAVIGABLE CANAL, from Oxford Canal Navigation at Braunston in the County of Northampton, to join the River Thames at or near Brentford in the County of Middlesex ; and which said Canal is intended to join the Oxford Canal in the Parish of Braunston aforesaid, and to be carried from thence in to or through the several Parishes and Townships of Braunston, Drayton, Daventry, Welton, Thrupp, Long Buckby, Wilton,Norton, Brockhall, Dodford, Weedon Beck, Stowe, Lower Hayford, Bugbrook, Gayton, Blisworth, Stoke Bruene, Road, Grafton Regis, Yardley Gobion, Furtho and Cosgrove, in the County of Northampton ; the several Parishes and Townships of Wolverton, Bradwell, Stantonhury, Great Linford, Newport Pagnell, Willen, Little Woolston, Great Woolston, Woughton, Simpson, Fenny Stratford, Water Eaton, Stoke Hammond, Soulbury, Linslade, Grove, Slapton, Horton, Ivinghoe, Pittlesthorn, Cheddington and Mersworth, in the County of Buckingham; the Parish of Leighton Buzzard in the County of Bedford ; the several Parishes and Townships of Tring, Aylesbury, Northchurch, Berkhampstead, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempsteadd, Abbots Langley, Kings Langley, Watford, and Rickmansworth, in the County of Hertford; the Parish of Denham in the said County of Buckingham ; and the several Parishes and Townships of Harefield, Uxbridge, Cowley, Hillingdon, Drayton, Harlington, Hayes, Southall, Heston, Norwood, Hanwell, Isleworth, New Brentford, Old Brentford and Ealing, in the County of Middlesex. And also for making a COLLATERAL CUT to branch from and out of the said intended Canal in the said Parish of Daventry, to be carried through the said Parish and the Hamlet of Thrupp aforesaid, to the North East End of the Town of Daventry.
And also for making a COLLATERAL CUT to branch from and out of the said intended Canal in the Parish of Gayton aforesaid, to be carried from thence in to or through the several Parishes and Townships of Gayton, Rothersthorpe, Wootton, Hardingstone, Duston and Northampton, to join the present Navigation of the River Nene.
And also for making one other COLLATERAL CUT to branch from and out of the said intended Canal, in the Parish of Cosgrove aforesaid, to be carried through the said Parish of Cosgrove to the Turnpike Road leading to London at Old Stratford in the said County of Northampton.
And also for making one other COLLATERAL CUT to branch from and out of the said intended Canal, in the Parish of Rickmansworth aforesaid, to be carried from thence to the Town of Watford aforesaid, & to pass thro’ the said Parishies of Rickmansworth and Watford.

NOTICE is hereby given, That Application is intended to be made to Parliament, in the ensuing Session, for Leave to bring in a Bill, and to obtain an Act, to amend an Act made in the last Session of Parliament, “For making and maintaining a Navigable Canal from the Oxford Canal Navigation at Braunston, in the County of Northampton, to join the River Thames, at or near Brentford, in the County of Middlesex; and also certain Collateral Cuts from the Canal, (called the Grand Junction Canal); and to enable the company of Proprietors of the said Canal, to make and maintain the several navigable Cuts herein after described, (that is to say)
A navigable Cut from the Town of Buckingham, in, to, or through the Parish of Buckingham, the Hamlet of Bourton, in the same Parish, the Parishes of Maids Morton, Foscote, Thornborough, Leckhamstead, Thornton, Beachampton, and Calverton, in the County of Buckingham; the Parishes of Wicken, and Passenham, the Hamlet of Denshanger, in the said Parish of Passenham, and Old Stratford, in the County of Northampton; to join the collateral Cut authorized by the said Act to be made by the said Company of Proprietors, from the Grand Junction Canal to Old Stratford aforesaid.
