John Hobbs 1650

In the name of God Amen I John Hobbs of Old Stratford in the County of Northampton Baker This first day of July in the year of our Lord god one thousand and Six hundred Fifty foure etc.  Being weake in Body but of Sound and perfect memory praysed be god for the Same And knowing the uncertainty of this Life And being desirous to Settle things in order Doe make and ordaine this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme following That he is to Say First I Commend my Soul unto Almighty god my Creator verely believing to receive Free remission of all my Sinns And bee Saved By the precious Death and meritts of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus And my Body to the Earth from whence it came To bee Buryed in Such decent and Christian manner as to my Executrix herein after named Shall think Fit and Conveynient And as Touching Such  Worldly Estate As the Lord in mercy hath Lent mee My Will and true meaning is That the Same Shall bee imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my Will is expressed And First I revoake and make voyde all wills by mee formerly made and Declare and appoint this my Last will and Testament Item I will That all those Debts that right or Conscience I owe to and person or persons whatsoever Shalbe well and truly payd and Satisfied by my Executrix hereafter named if within Conveynient time after my Decease Item I give to my Sonne Charles Hobbs Twenty pounds To bee payd the said Charles when hee Shall Compleat or attain the full age of Fifteene years Item I give more to the Sayd Charles Hobbs my Sonne The Somme of Twenty pounds To bee payd unto him when hee Shall attaine the Full age of one and twenty years Item I give and bequeath unto the Child or Children wherewith my Wife Mary now goeth and is not yet delivered The Somme of Fifty pounds To bee payd unto him her or them when hee Shee or they Shall ifAccomplish the age of one and twenty yeares All the Rest of my goods and Chattles undisposed of my Debts payd And funerall Chardges Defrayed I give and bequeath unto my Loueinge wife Mary Hobbs Whom I make and ordaine Sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testament Chardering her in all things to the best of her abillities  To see performed And I Doe appoint if and desire my Loueinge Brother Edward Hobbs of Wicken and my Loueinge Friends John Mansell of Stony Stratford if To bee Overseers of this my Will intreatinge their helpe and assistance to my Sayd Executrix in perfourmance of this my Sayd Will unto each of whom for their paines I give Twenty shillings To bee payd by my Executrix before named within Six months next after my decease In Witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seale The day and yeare First above written: The marke of John Hobbs: Signed Sealed published and declared in the presence of Thomas Penn The marke of Edward Hart John Mansell

This Will was proved at Westminster The Foure and twentith Day of October in the yeare of our Lord god Accordinge to the Computation of the Church of England one thousand Six hundred and Fifty and before the Judges for the Probate of Will and granting Administrations Lawfully Authorized by the oath of Mary Hobbs the Relict of the Sayd John Hobbs Deceased And Sole Executrix … ed in this Last Will and Testament of the Sayd Deceased To whom was permitted Administration of all and Singular the goods Chattels and Debts of the Sayd Deceased and Shee the Sayd Mary Hobbs Beinge first Sworn by virtue of a Commission well and truly to Administer the Same
