Duncan Moon 1769

This is the last Will and Testament of Duncan Moon of Old Stratford in the County of Northampton Gentleman I resign my Soul to Almighty God in humble hopes of forgiveness of all my transgressions through the mediation of my blessed redeemer I give and devise All that Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell situate in Old Stratford aforesaid and the orchards and gardens there to belonging to my Niece Jane James her Heirs and Assigns  for ever I give to my Brother George Moon One hundred pounds and in case he dies in my lifetime then I direct that the same be equally divided amongst his Children living at his decease I give to each of his Children living at my decease Twenty Pounds I give to my Nephew Charles Moon son of my brother John Moon Fifty pounds I give to Mr. Nathaniel Tidd of Tower Street London Turner Twenty pounds I give to Edward Bloxham of Stony Stratford Twenty pounds I give to my said Niece Jane James Two hundred pounds and also my Watch and Rummer tipt with silver I give to my servant Elizabeth Davis if she lives with me at my decease the sum of Two hundred and ninety pounds I give to Mr. Ruben Capes Twenty pounds All the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate of what nature soever or wherever (If any remains after payment of my legal debts funeral expences and the expences of my Executors in this Trust) I give to my Brother George Moon But in Case my personal Estate should not be sufficient to pay all my Legacies then I direct that each Legatee shall abate in proportion to his or her respective Legacy except the Twenty pounds given to Mr. Capes And I constitute and appoint the said Ruben Capes Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made and do ratify this Writing as and for my last Will. In Witness whereof I the said Duncan Moon have here unto set my Hand and Seal this Eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty eight Duncan Moon his Mark Signed sealed published and declared by the said Duncan Moon as and for his last Will in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other Edwd Grant Joseph Gibbons George Bloxham
