These shots of Thornton College were taken in March 1964

Aerial view of Thornton College from the east

These pictures are the most detailed of all the aerial shots. At the top (in line with the river - on the left hand side) you can see the Leat running to the Turbine House. Also at the top,the small multi-sided structure close to the middle is the Sewage Works. The large flat-roofed extension at the rear of the house is the 'new' refectory. The lower asbestos roof is the Hall. At the right-hand side of the front of the house is the unfortunately designed flat-roofed Priest's Bungalow (2005 - now is the Bursar's Office.) Note the 3ft boundary trench round the Churchyard which is now being filled in.
