(Sheppard impaling Turner). Thomas Cotton Sheppard was born on 3rd March 1785 and took the name of Cotton before Sheppard on 3rd April 1806. He was created a baronet in 1809 and died in 1848. During his life he married the daughter of the Reverend Edward Turner A.M., a prebendary of Lincoln Cathedral and Vicar of Wragby.
