No.2 is the Ingleton achievement with an escutcheon "Argent crusilly-fitchee azure with three griffins' heads of the second". The funeral brass of Robert Ingleton in Thornton Church shows a shield quarterly 1 and 3 Ingleton; 2 and 4 "Three griffins' heads erased". The second coat of Ingleton does not appear to have an explanation except that in Tudor times the heralds gave second achievements to persons already entitled to one.
