Robert Bannister tablet with arms
ROBERTUS BANASTREIUS miles.
"Quid retribuam tibi domine, pro omnibus beneficiis mihi datis. Anno Domini 1626". Stulte hac nocte"
Over the south door is a carved stone tablet with arms and inscription recording the building of the Chancel in 1626,
text from psalm 116, v12. The inscription ‘Stulte Hac Nocte’
at the lower end of this tablet appears to have been added
at a later date,
(St Luke 12, v20) and is something
of an enigma in the context of the original sentiments.
