In the Name of God Amen: the ffowrth daie of August in the Yeare of our Lord god 1610 I John Browne the elder of Yardley Gobion within the parishe of East purie alias Potterspurrie in the Countie of Northampton husbandman, beinge weake in bodye, but of good and perfect mynde and remembrance thankes be to god, doe ordaine and make this my last will and testament in maner and forme followinge Viz ffirst I commend and bequeath my soule to Allmightie god my Creator, and to his sonne my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, by whose merits death and passion I doe onelie trust and assuredlie believe to be saved And my bodie to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspurie aforesaid in some convient place where my Executors shall thinke meete And as concerninge my Worldlie goodes I give and bequeath to the mother Church of Peterborough iiijd Item I give and bequeath towards the repayre of the parishe church of Potterspurie aforesaid ijs vjd Item I give and bequeath to the poore people of yardley aforesaid ijs vjd Item I give and bequeath to Jone my Wife xxs Item I give and bequeath moreover to Joan my wife for her proper use and behoof during her natural life, my best bedstead my best bedd and all my best furniture thereunto belonginge as bolsters pillows blankets and coverlet Together with three paire of my best sheets and my best cofer Item I give and bequeath to Anne my Daughter the now wife of John Whorlett the Summe of vl of Lawfull money of England to be paid unto her or her assigns by my Executors hereafter named within 12 moneths next after my decease Item I give and bequeath to Alice my daughter the now wife of Richard Scott the summe of vl of good and Lawfull money of England to be paid to her or her assignes by my Executors hereafter named within xij moneths next after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Roger xls of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto him or his assi[gnes] by my Executors hereafter named within two yeares after my decease. Item I give and bequeath moreover to my sayd sonne Roger All my part of my hovels, overlayers, together with all the pales, posts, fleakes and mounds in and about the Yards Item I give and bequeath to everie one of my godchildren iiijd a peece Item All the Rest of my goods and chattels whatsoever moveable and unmoveable unbequeathed, after my Debts paid, my funeral expences paid, and my guyfts and bequests before in theis presents menconed performed and discharged, I Doe give and bequeath to John my sonne whom I doe ordayne and make my sole Executour of this my last will and Testament. And I doe desire my sonnes in Law Richard Scott and John Whorlett to be the overseers of this my Last will and testament And I doe utterlie revoke all other former wylls and bequests heretofore by me made given or bequeathed.
