In the Name of God Amen I John Grubb of Yardley Gubion in the parish of Potters Pury in the County of Northampton Yeoman being in health of body and of sound and prefect mind and memory and understanding praised be God for the same but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and forme following (That is to say) First and principally I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping through ye merits and mediation of my blessed Saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ to receive full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit eternal life And my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named And as to that temporal state which it hath pleased god to give me I dispose thereof as followeth Imprimis I give devise and bequeath and bequeath All my mesuage cotage or tenement and orchard with the appurtenances scituate standing and being in Yardley Gubion aforesaid now in the tenure or occupation of Richard Read his assignee or assignes to my dear and loving wife Elizabeth Grubb for and during the terme of her naturall life And from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath one Moyety or undivided half part thereof to my Nephew (no name given) Grubb ye eldest son of my brother Richard Grubb and to his heires and assignes for ever and the other Moyety or undivided half part thereof to my Nephew (no name given) Plowman the eldest son of my sister Mary Plowman and to his heires and assignes forever Item I give to my brother Richard Grubb one shilling Item I give to my sister Mary Plowman one shilling And all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personall estate whatsoever or wheresoever I give devise and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Elizabeth Grubb And I do make my said wife Elizabeth Grubb sole executrix of this my last will and testament And I hereby revoke and make void all former wills heretofore by me made In Witness where of I have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seale this first day of May in the eleventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the grace of God of great Britain ffrance and Ireland King defender of the faith &c.
