IIn the name of God Amen the five and Twentith day of March Anno Dom 1669 and in the on and Twentith yeare of the raigne of our Soverain lord Charles the Second by the grace of god of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Kinge Deffender of the faith is missing I William Sargent Alias Hewes of yardley gobeon in the parish of potter pery in the Countie of Northampton yeoman beinge sick and weake in Body but of sound and parfit memory praysed be god for it and knowinge the unsertintie of this life on Earth and beinge desirous to settle thinges in order doe make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme ffollowinge that is to say first and prinsipally I Commend my Soule unto Almighty god my Creator Assuredly beleiveing that I shall receive full pardon and free Remision and be saved by the presious Death and Merittes of my blessed Saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus and my Bodie to the Earth from whence it was Taken to bee Buried in such manner as to my Executrix hereafter Named shall be thought Meete and Convenient And as Touchinge such worldly goodes which god in Marsey hath lent me my will and meaninge is the same shall be Employed as here Affter by this my will is Expressed And I doe revoke ffrustrat and make voyde All willes by mee fformerley Made and declare and Apoynt this my last will and Testament And first I give and bequeth unto my son Thomas Sargent Alias Hewes the Hovell postes Side Strakes and overlayers of so much of the Hovell which my Bease stand under in my yard so far as the wall goeth and Two Rackes and Mangers in the stable the Chafe howse and fives overlayers in the stable and my mault mill but my will and meaninge is that my welbeloved wife persis shall have the use of the Mill duringe hir Naturall life Item I give unto my daughter Jane Browne the wife of Edward Browne Twelve pence Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Tomes the wife of Gabarel Tomes Twelve pence Item I give and Bequeath unto my Grand Children William Sargent Alias Hewes, Thomas Sargent Alias Hewes, Nickolas Sargent Alias Hewes, Mary Sargent Alias Hewes, Jane Sargent Alias Hewes,Ann Sargent Alias Hewes All Children of my son William to Every of them ffive shillinges Apeice to be paide unto them when the Come to thare several and Respective Ages of one and Twenty yeares and if any of them Happen to die before thare legasies shall be due unto them then my will and minde is that his Hir or thare legasies do dyeinge shall be Equaly Devided Amongst or to the Survivors of them Item I give and bequeth unto my Grand Childe William Sargent Alias Hewes the son of John Sargent Alias Hewes the sum of ffive pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him when he shall Come to the Age of one and Twenty yeares Item I give and bequeith unto my Grand Childe Ann Sargent Alias Hewes daffter of my son John Sargent Alias Hewes the sum of Tenn pounds of good and lawful Money of England to be paid unto hir when she shall Come to the Age Twenty yeares or day of Marage which shall first Hapen Item I give and bequeith unto Elizabeth Sargent Alias Hewes my Grand Childe daffter to my son John Sargent Alias Hewes the sum of ffive poundes of good and lawfull Money of England to be paid unto hir at the Age of Eighteene yeares and my will and meaning is that if any of those my Grand Children William, Ann and Elizabeth the Children of my son John shall Hapen to die before thare Legasies be Come due to them then my will is that his Hir and thare legasie so dieinge shall be Equally devided Amongst the survivor or surviours of those Three William, Ann and Elizabeth Item I give and bequeath unto my Wellbeloved wife perses All that meadow ground lieinge and beinge in Hans[lope] Meadow in the Countie of Bucks Contayninge by Esteemation one Acre And an Halfe lyein with John Harris with the Hedges and profits thare unto belonginge for and dureinge al the time and terme of yeares which I have thare in to Come and une red and all my Estate and interest therein I give unto my saide well Beloved wife Persis hir Executors Administrators and Assignes she or hir Executors Administrators or Assignes yeldinge and payinge ffive pounds of lawfull Money of England to my Grand Childe William Sargent Alias Hewes son to John Sargent Alias Hewes which ffive pounds I give and bequeith to my said Grandson William Sargent Alias Hewes besides the ffive poundes given him as above saide and my will and minde is that my wellbeloved wife Persis shall Maintaine and Keepe my Grand Childe Elizabeth Sargent Alias Hewes with meat drinke Apparel lodgeinge Convenient until shee shall Come to the Age of ffourteene yeares olde All the Rest of my goods and Chattels undisposed of I give and bequeith unto my welbeloved wife Persis Sargent Alias Hewes whom I make and ordayne Sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament Ratifinge and Conferminge All Deedes and writings and Conveansies here to ffore by me made unto my well Beloved wife Persis Sargent Alias Hewes and to my Two grand Children viz Persis Sargent Alias Hewes and Ann Sargent Alias Hewes daffters to my son John Sargent alias Hewes and it is my will and minde that they have Keepe and quietlie and peaceably Posses and Enioy for Ever the Howse Scituated in Yardley Gobeon aforesaid which I Parchessed of Cuthbert Tassell now in the Tenan… of Samuell barram as it is Expressed in the deed I made to them my said wife and Grand Children And of this my last will and Testament I nominate And Apoynt my well Beloved friends Thomas Smith Alias Cave and Christopher Harris both of Yardley Gobeon Afforsaid yeoman to be my overseeres of this my will desiring[.] them to be Aydeing and Assistinge to my Executrix in all thinges Honest and lawfull in and abought the Exicution The oath to be ministered to ye said Executrix

You shall sweare that this is ye last will and Testament as you believe of your late husband deceased and that you will well and faithfully perform ye same and pay his Debts and legacyes so farr as by law you are bound and that goods will extend And that ye Sweared now by you exhibited is a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular ye goods chattels and due debts of ye said deceased and that you will make a further account of ye administration when you shall be there unto called So help you God Tho. Hay ilio ell Regis
