In the name of God Amen I John Toomes of Yardley Gobion in the parish of Potterspury in the County of Northampton yeoman I John being well in body and sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God doe make ordeyne this my last will and Testament in manner following first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping though the meritous death and sufering of Jesus Christ my Saviour and redeemer to receive Free pardon of all my sins and for my body I comitt the same to the earth from whence it came to be decently bured att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and as for my worldly estate I dispose thereof as followeth ffirst I give and devise unto my loveing wife Martha Toomes all my Freehold land tenements and hereditaments lyeing in Potterspury aforesaid and Yardley aforesaid to hold the same for and during the Terme of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise one moiety thereof to her heires and Assignes and the other moiety thereof I give and devise unto my two sisters Sarah Woodward and Ann Toomes their heirs and Assignes for ever Item I give unto my said wife Martha Toomes all my goods chattels and personall estate whatsoever and I doe make and ordayne my said wife full Executrix of this my last will and Testament revoking all former wills by me made In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the Ninth day of January In the ffyte [5th] yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Brittaine ffrance and Ireland King defender of the faith etc. Annoq Dni 1718
