In the name of God Amen the 26 day of April in the year of our Lord God A thousand five hundred and fifty and six witness that I John Browghton junior of Yardley Gobben of the parish of Potterspury als. Estpury within the county of Northampton husbandman being sick of body and of a perfect remembrance thanks be given to Almighty God therefore do make my last Will or Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God to our Blessed Lady Saint Mary and to all the blessed company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Potterspury aforesaid I bequeath to the blessed sacrament in the same church pro decimis oblitis 4d. I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 2d. I bequeath to the poor men’s box 2d. I bequeath to the repairs of the bells 8d. I bequeath to my five children every one a cow And I will that they shall have the[m] delivered within 3 years after my departing I to my 3 youngest sons a bay mare colt among them all I bequeath to Hew Jacson my servant 4d. I bequeath to Elisabeth Blese 2d The residue of my goods I do give them and unbequeathed them all to Agnes Browgton my wife and she to dispose them as she thinks best that it may be for my soul health and hers And I do make her my full executrix and she to see these my legacies and my debts paid and performed I do make my supervisors to see this my last Will to be performed John Browghton my father and William Smyth als.
