In the name of God Amen I John Bland of Yardly Gubben in the Parish of Potter’s-pury in the County of Northampton Carpenter being of sound mind and memory blessed be God for the same but calling to mind the mortality of men and being willing to settle my affairs before my change come, do ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
I commit my soul into the hands of my dear Redeemer hoping and trusting in his Blood merits and Righteousness alone for Pardon and Salvation my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interr’d at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafter named----- And with Regard to the Worldly Estate with which a kind Providence hath been pleased to bless me I dispose of as follows.
My Will is that my Dearly beloved wife shall enjoy all my Household Goods for and during the Term of her natural life and then at her decease to be equally divided between my two Daughters Martha Bland and Elizabeth Bland. And if it please God that if Either of my Daughters should dye unmarried then in such case her Part of the Household Goods this demised shall go to my other Daughter aforesaid that survives her.
I give and bequeath my Estate lying situate and being at Cosgrove in the County of Northampton aforesd. To my four younger children that is to say Thomas Bland Richard Bland Martha Bland and Elizabeth Bland to be equally divided among them.
I do hereby constitute and appoint Mr Thomas Smith of moorend Farmer and Mr John Smith Farmer of Yardly Gubben aforesd both in the Parish of Potter’s-pury aforesd joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby commission and authorize my Executors aforesd to sell my Estate at Cosgrove aforesd for the Use and Benefit of my four Younger Children as aforesd-
My will is that my Executors aforesd shall put out the money to Interest or for the Disposal & settling of my four Younger Children aforesd as in the Fear of God and a good conscience they shall judge the most expedient. & in case that my Executors aforesd cannot immediately dispose of my Estate at Cosgrove then my Will is that the Issues and profits arising from my Estate at Cosgrove aforesd shall be equally divided among my four Younger Childen as aforesd from my Decease
All my wearing apparel I leave to be disposed of at the Discretion of my dearly beloved wife.
All my Tools Implements and Materials in Trade I give and bequeath to my oldest Son John Bland
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal to this my last Will and Testament (hereby rrevoking all other wills heretofore by me made) this ninth Day Of February in the twenty first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and in the Year of Our Lord Christ One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Fourty seven.
Signed sealed published and Declared by the Testator as for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of Us who have subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto in his Presence and at his Request and in the Presence of Each Other
