Mr. & Mrs. Paris

Miss Joan Betty Sapwell was married at Deanshanger Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, wearing a full-length slipper satin dress, with an embroidered veil, and a head-dress of orange-blossom. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, white carnations and trailing fern.
The bridegroom was Mr. Michael Paris, who is the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Paris, of Pretoria Terrace, Castlethorpe. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Sapwell of “The Beehive”, Deanshanger.
There were two bridesmaids, Miss Barbara Sapwell (bride’s sister) and Betty Tapp (friend). They wore full-length blue taffeta dresses with blue coronet head-dresses, and carried posies of sweet-peas. Mr. Maurice Paris (bridegroom’s brother) was best man. The bride was given away by her father.
The Rev. J. S. Benson (Rector) officiated, and the choir, accompanied by Mr. W. Smith, sang the hymns “Lead us Heavenly Father, lead us” and “The Lord is my Shepherd” to Crimond.
At the church the bride received four horseshoes and a wooden spoon.
After a reception at “The Beehive”, when 36 guests were present Mr. and Mrs. Paris left for their honeymoon in Southsea.
A large number of useful and valuable presents were received including an eight-day chiming clock from the bridegroom’s workmates at Hanslope Park, where he is employed as a motor mechanic, and a silver tea service from the bride’s workmates at the Old Master dress Co., Stony Stratford, where she is a passer.
