Gilwell Park Cub Day

We assembled at the Headquarters at 8.45am. to board the Coach at 9.0am. After we had picked up the party of 1st Stony Stratford Packs at Stony Stratford we travelled to Gilwell Park Chingford in Epping Forest.

Arriving at 10.45am. our Pack was split into groups of 3 so that they could make the most of the exciting activities available to them through the day. Having changed from their uniforms into sports attire they all set off to discover the activities. The Leaders also walked around the Camp Site to see for themselves what our lads could enjoy and also to discover many historic scouting landmarks displayed around the International site.

The numerous activities included Aerial Runways, Abseiling, Archery, Magic, Canoeing and displays by London Fire Brigade, British Transport Police and British Telecom. There were so many activities for the lads to enjoy and it appears that after questioning the boys after the Day Out many items had not even been discovered.

The party returned to the Coach Park at 12.30pm. to eat their packed lunches and after being given their £1.00 spending money they were soon scampering back to the fun.

All good things must come to an end unfortunately and we all boarded the coach for a 5.0pm. return and arrived back at the Headquarters at 6.30pm. having had a wonderful day out at Gilwell on a very hot summer’s day.
