1st HANSLOPE

Milton Keynes North District Cub Scouts Cross Country Emberton Park

This was the second year running this Competition had been organised and the venue was Emberton Park once again.

Having assembled at the Headquarters with the team of eight, two of which had come into the team at late notice owing to Edward Porter and Lee Ashton having to drop out, we arrived at Emberton at 9.30am.

The course had been modified so that the Cub Scouts had a longer distance to run as it was thought that the first year’s course was too short for a Cross Country event.

Having psyched up our team to do their best over a wet course, emphasising the first 6 places qualified for the team points, the Run started at 10am. Parents and Leaders placed themselves around the course to give our lads maximum encouragement over the strength sapping run. All of our team completed the course giving all their effort in ensuring 1st Hanslope gave a good account of themselves in the competitive run.

Paul Swannell A.D.C. then announced the placings 1st Olney received the Shield having gained 119 points, followed by Stony Stratford ‘Cherokees’ 164 points with 1st Hanslope and 1st Wolverton Timbers equal third place gaining 170 points.

We returned home in good spirits have ‘Done our Best’ over a gruelling distance but in sunny weather.
