Senior Citizens Xmas Party
The Pack had invited 62 people to the 6th Annual Xmas Party including old and new friends from the village of Hanslope and Castlethorpe. Once again the Group Council had fully supported the venture, organising transport, refreshments, prizes and funds.
The Pack received their guests for a 7.15pm. start. Escorting them to their seats whilst Mr. Hill provided suitable music for the Party. Akela opened the Party by welcoming our old and new friends and hoped that they would enjoy the programme.
The atmosphere soon became very jolly as a previously selected group of ‘volunteers’ enjoyed a game called ‘Musical Hat’ followed by ‘Transferring Balloon from between the Knees’. When the players had stopped laughing, 3 Games of Bingo were organised. Whilst that well known Bingo Caller from Castlethorpe set about his task, some of the Cub Scouts helped some of the struggling players to mark off the numbers. When all 3 of the Meat Voucher Prizes had been claimed, the Cub Scouts and Leaders served the excellent refreshments provided by the ladies. During the interval 4 Raffle Prizes were drawn to find the lucky winners from the tickets given out to each guest by Bagheera during the interval.
The tables having been cleared and Akela settling our excited guests down he introduced a play performed by 10 Cub Scouts called ‘Christopher Robin leads an ‘Expotition’ (sic) to the North Pole’. The audience was enthralled by the very fine acting and the wonderful story of Winnie the Pooh and friends’ journey to find the North Pole. Akela presented Mrs. Mitchell and Miss Jenkins with a small token of the Packs gratitude for their hard work in presenting such an excellent play. Six Scouts from the Troop then presented a Sketch called ‘The Price is Right’. The guests were in stitches especially the gentlemen accosted by a very large woman sitting on their laps.
The whole party then enjoyed singing four carols led by the choir of Cub Scouts and Leaders and accompanied by Mr Hill’s organ playing.
Akela then closed another wonderful Party as the guests were offered sherry and mince pies before departing for home. However we were fortunate to be visited by Father Christmas who distributed chocolate bars to the guests which brought the evenings delightful Party to a close.
