Visit of 1st Stony Stratford ‘Cherokees’ Pack

1st Stony Stratford Cherokees arrived at 6.30pm. to be welcomed by 1st Hanslope. After the Cherokee Cub scouts had been organised into our 4 Sixes we explained to the Cub scouts that the Joint Pack Meeting was to encourage new friendships and to foster the principals of working together as Cub Scouts, to have fun and learn.

We then had Grand Howl and each Pack was inspected by their relevant Leaders and we were all ready to enjoy a fun filled Pack Night. All shyness evaporated as we played ‘Under the Knees’ with 7 Leaders spaced around the Hall making sure that the Cub Scouts were soon jumping and dodging about. A game of ‘Cat and Mouse’ was then organised and it was remarked that it must have been one of the largest grids ever set.

The Cub Scouts were by now working well together and a Game of Volley Ball soon cemented the working together theme with each Six trying their hardest to remain on the court by winning each game. The visiting Leaders then organised a game of ‘Over and Under’ and the competitive spirit was soon in evidence during this Six Relay Game. Each Cub then sat on a chair in a very large circle to await Kaa’s excellent soup made from a Delia Smith recipe, it must have been good because a few Cub scouts even thanked him for his cooking skills.

A game of ‘Who am I’ was then played which caused much laughter. ‘Gamekeeper and Poacher’ game was then played which sometimes showed that the Cherokees were not so familiar with country pursuits as the 1st Hanslope Cub Scouts.

The Cub Scouts were then split into 2 teams to play ‘Noughts and Crosses’ which caused a lot of noise, scrambling and laughs.

Grand Howl ended the Joint Pack Meeting and we said our farewells satisfied that our aims had been achieved and many new friends made.
