Hanslope Cub Scout Pack v Bagheera’s All Stars

Both teams assembled and prepared themselves for 3.0pm. Kick Off on an overcast and chilly afternoon.

The first half produced end to end football but the referee seemed to be far stricter in pulling up the All Stars for very minor infringements which effected their obvious superior teamwork. The All Stars defence lacked understanding and their goalkeeper Bagheera had to resort to some very strong words to his back four when many opportunities were presented to the eager Cub Scouts forward line because of basic mix ups. When the half time whistle was blown the Pack had taken a 3 – 1 lead and Bagheera was not amused. Calling his second half team around him Bagheera really lashed into the players for a dismal 1st half performance and demanded a far better effort after half time.

With a new All Star line up and more commitment the score line reached 6 all which was a good performance as by this time Kaa and the Group Scout Leader had been sent off for arguing persistently with the harassed referee. The crowd were on tenter hooks; could the All Stars snatch the winner in the last minute? Unfortunately yet another defensive mix up caused the Pack to score a well earned goal to win the match 7 – 6.

Bagheera presented the Trophy to Justin Harding the Pack’s captain and from the Referee’s choice Justin Harding and Mr. Wilkinson each received a trophy for the best player for the respective teams.

Returning to the Headquarters we all enjoyed excellent refreshments provided by the Group Council which concluded a very enjoyable and fun packed afternoon.
