The Dorothy Cook Competition
Held at the Mathieson Centre, Bradville

We met at the Headquarters at 9.0 a.m., and after finding a pair of short trousers for A. Turvey and fetching D. Boss who had forgotten, we reached Bradville for the 9.45 Competition start.
10 Packs had entered the Competition, 4th Newport, 2 Mile Ash, Stoke Goldington, Greenleys, Bradville & Stantonbury, 3rd. Newport, 1st Wolverton, Great Linford, Olney and 1st Hanslope. Around the hall were 10 Test stations and 10 minutes duration was given for each test. Akela and Bagheera manned a station on knots but our team did not have to visit this station. The other 9 Stations were Law & Promise, Royal Family, First Aid, Road Safety, National Anthem, Baden Powell, Observation, Water Safety and Model Making (Woggle).
After points had been totaled up, Mrs. A. Rogers ADCCS announced the 3 leading positions. First Wolverton 77 points, Second Hanslope 75 points and in Third place Olney with 73 points.
This had been an excellent effort by our team which makes running up spot twice in 3 years of entering the Competition. The cub scouts had enjoyed meeting other packs and also learned further scouting knowledge.
We all returned to Hanslope in good spirits because our cub scouts had really ‘done their best’. Mr. Owen had kindly helped to transport us to and from Bradville.
