Milton Keynes North District Cub Scouts Quiz

Our rounds were held at the 1st Wolverton Scout Hall and we arrived at 6.30 p.m. after calling for one of the team members who had completely forgotten the engagement, his dinner was put into the oven for his return.
There were 6 teams present so the Leaders drew lots to find which 2 had a bye and who the remaining 4 teams were to play.
It was found that our team was to meet 1st Stony Stratford ‘Cherokees’. We retired to a small anti room to commence battle whilst the other match was conducted in the main hall. Our team confidently set about their task and kept themselves in front over the six rounds, despite one of the scorers never having the same as Bagheera, who was always spot on, until near the end which brought good hearted cheers from the contestants. The final score in this match was 1st Hanslope 33 1st Stony Stratford ‘Cherokees’ 25 points.
We were now in the next round and a draw then took place to find our next opponents who turned out to be St. Monica’s Neath Hill. This match took place in the Main Hall whilst the other match was played in the small room. After Akela had rearranged the chairs for the teams so that the noisy audience did not put the boys off their concentration we began the battle to see which team entered the Semi Finals, to be held later in the week at 1st Stony Stratford Scout Hall. This match turned out to be very close until the last 2 rounds of the 6 round contest when St. Monica’s forged ahead to defeat our gallant team 37 to 30 points.
The team performed to their best of abilities with Akela putting forward the view that only tired brains defeated us as we had 2 matches on the same night. We departed for home well satisfied of our efforts in the quiz. The journey home was interrupted for bags of chips which unfortunately Akela had to find the money as the Teams Captain had not come prepared for the treat. Arrived home 8.40 p.m.
