Met at 9.15a.m. Headquarters and then the party was transported by Mrs. Monk and Mr. McDonald to Tathall End. The morning was mild and sunny and we successfully Way Marked Footpath number 23 to Haversham Parish Boundary. Difficulties were encountered on Bridleway number 24 and it was decided more research and discussion with the Land Owner was required before it could be Way Marked.

We walked the Bridle Way back into Tathall End and then walked and Way Marked Footpaths 49, 69, and 6 on Mr. Williams land returning to Mrs. Monk’s for well earned refreshments.

Sunday March 1st 1987

The Group assembled at 9.15a.m. on a very wet morning at the Headquarters. Although the ground underfoot was very heavy in places we successfully marked Footpath number 2 from the Church to the Castlethorpe Boundary and then made our way to Castlethorpe Road to mark Bridleway number 12 to its end at Higham Cross. We returned via footpaths 63 & 71 but did not complete all of the way marking because permission had not been obtained.

Met at 9.15a.m. Headquarters on a sunny morning and then walked along Cuckoo Hill footpath we had already way marked in February. We then proceeded to way mark footpath number11 over the railway until we reached Bridleway number 13 by Milford Leys Cottage. We then way marked Footpath number 79 which runs along the old Mill Race from Castlethorpe Parish Boundary to the Bucks/Northants boundary after discussing the project with Mr. Frost at Milford Leys Farm. We then walked back onto Bridle Way number 13 to way mark around Mr. Sawbridge’s property at Lincoln Lodge. Having reached a point where the Bridleway leaves the concreted surface we decided to make our way homeward because of the time available and problems in finding posts to attach our signs. Walked along footpath number 1 from Lincoln Lodge to Green End with cautious eyes on a nesting swan and also erecting extra signs on this previously way marked footpath.

Sunday April 26th 1987

Met at Stocking Green Farm at 9.15a.m. on a warm sunny day and walked on Mr. Beasley’s land on Bridleway number 10. No way marking was undertaken on Mr. Beasley’s land as permission had not been granted but we proceeded onto Bridleway numbers 27, 35, 36 and 10 way marking on the walk. Having reached the Forest and the Parish Boundary we retraced our steps to Forest Farm and way marked Bridleway number 10 to the Motorway bridge. On the walk we observed some bridge construction work had been undertaken over ditches to enable Bridleways to have a free route. The Group were very pleased with the progress made over the six months and a large amount of Footpaths and Bridleways within the Parish had been way marked. The remaining rights of way and extra posts with markers where more positive signs could help riders and walkers were decided to be put in abeyance until the new Parish Council were elected in May.
