The new classroom building

The new classroom building on the left was built c.1970 by Bettes and Faulkners of Stony Stratford. As the site is part of the flood plain the building had to be hammer pile driven to make the foundations. The design involved a flat roof so an upper storey could be added at a later date.

A new first floor was added to the existing wing about ten years later c. 1980. This work was undertaken by Cowley's of Stony Stratford. The building had to be underpinned as the original footings were not sufficient to take the new weight load.

This picture, taken in 1991, shows the new wing finished. The beech tree was cut down as it was deemed unsafe.
