ABOUT US
We were founded in 1955 by a group of like-minded individuals whose aim was to make the general public more aware and appreciative of the story and history of our locality. The Society carries out research into the history of Wolverton and the surrounding areas and holds meetings on a variety of historical subjects and organises visits to places of historic interest, perform walks around the local towns and at times help organise historic celebrations.

We also keep an eye on listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the area and related planning applications.

A number of publications have been produced about the northern part of Milton Keynes, and the Society also issues a Newsletter and pamphlets as well as publishing reprints of local history books and collections of postcards.

The Society has a large collection of over 12,000 slides of photographs taken since the 1860's which can be shown to local organisations.

Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of the month from September to April - held at St. Mary's and St. Giles Middle School, King George Crescent, Stony Stratford.

The lecture programme is published here and in the local Library and would normally consist of talks on old and historic buildings, famous persons and the occasional light-hearted evening. Further details are available from the Secretary.
