The lists of Christenings, Marriages and Burials were transcribed by volunteers from the original Towcester records held at the Northamptonshire Record Office. The lists may not be totally accurate as the writing was varied and the condition of some of the documents made deciphering them quite difficult.

Parliament decreed that the Rector or Vicar of each church had to record every baptism, marriage and burial. Therefore the dates recorded are not exactly the same as those of birth or death. Also there could be transcription errors between the original records and the Bishop's transcripts.

The wills were read and the information summarised in 2001 by members of an evening class run at the Northamptonshire Record Office by Philip Riden, editor of the volume of the Victoria County Histories covering the Cleley Hundred (Shutlanger, Stoke Bruerne, Cosgrove, Yardley Gobion and Potterspury). Over 400 original wills of Towcester citizens were read and transcribed.

The information above had been recorded on a data base by Margaret Webb.
